Loop Switch 2, adjustable earplugs with three noise modes

Most earplugs are a one decision thing, in or out, quiet or chaos.
Loop Switch 2 gives you something nicer, a tiny dial in your ear that lets you turn the world up or down without taking the plugs out.

They are reusable silicone earplugs with three mechanical noise modes in one pair, Quiet, Engage, and Experience, covering roughly 20 to 26 dB SNR of noise reduction depending on the setting.
No batteries, no apps, just a physical click that changes how much sound gets through.

What Loop Switch 2 is

Loop Switch 2 is Loop’s adjustable model, built around a small in ear dial that switches between three preset levels of sound reduction:

  • Engage Mode, light reduction, keep speech clear while softening background noise, about 20 dB SNR

  • Experience Mode, mid reduction, for concerts and events when you still want crisp sound, about 23 dB SNR

  • Quiet Mode, maximum reduction for busy commutes or noisy offices, about 26 dB SNR

The earplug body is slimmer than the original Switch and uses a smaller angled nozzle, plus updated silicone tips in four sizes, XS, S, M, L, so it sits more naturally in the ear for day long wear.

In the box you get:

  • 1 pair of Loop Switch 2 earplugs

  • 4 sets of Switch 2 ear tips, XS to L, medium pre installed

  • 1 upgraded carry case with moulded inserts so the plugs do not rattle around

Why we like it at RestingLabs

Think of Switch 2 as the “one pair for most days” option.

  • Adjustable control
You can go from office to cafe to gig without swapping earplugs, just turn the dial until your brain stops flinching.

  • Better fit and comfort
The reworked body and nozzle are made for daily use, not just short bursts, and the dedicated Switch 2 tips help you get an actual seal instead of “almost there”.

  • Fully passive
No charging, no Bluetooth, no firmware. If you can remember how to turn a tiny wheel, you can use Switch 2.

  • Certified hearing protection
Like other Loop models, Switch 2 is tested against EU EN 352 2 and US ANSI S3.19 standards for hearing protection, so you are not guessing about basic safety.

This makes it a good middle ground between Loop Quiet style “maximum muffling” and the lighter social or concert focused models.

Three modes at a glance

You select modes by rotating the small in ear dial until it clicks into place against one of three icons.

Engage Mode, around 20 dB SNR

  • Thins out background noise

  • Keeps voices fairly clear

  • Good for open offices, cafes, shared homes, parenting mode

Experience Mode, around 23 dB SNR

  • Turns loud environments down without destroying sound quality

  • Aimed at concerts, festivals, sports, nightlife

  • You still hear the mix, just at a safer volume

Quiet Mode, around 26 dB SNR

  • Strongest reduction on this model

  • Best for commutes, planes, overstimulating shops, or when you just need your own little bubble

  • Not as extreme as industrial plugs, but enough to take the edge off for most everyday use

Switching happens in ear, so you can walk into a louder space, feel yourself tensing up, and quietly move from Engage to Experience without taking the plugs out.

Who Loop Switch 2 is for

Good fit if you:

  • Move between different noise levels in one day, office, transport, social, events

  • Are noise sensitive or neurodivergent, and want a way to dial the world back without totally checking out

  • Want one pair that can cover focus, socialising, and gigs, instead of collecting multiple models

  • Care about design, Loop’s circular look is less “industrial PPE”, more “small piece of jewellery”

Less ideal if you:

  • Mainly need earplugs for sleep
Switch 2 is a little bulkier than dedicated sleep models and Loop themselves recommend their Dream line instead for overnight, especially if you are a side sleeper.

  • Need very high reduction for power tools or firearms
In that case you are in industrial or specialist territory rather than lifestyle plugs.

How to use it

  1. Pick a tip size
Start with the pre installed medium, if you feel pressure or ache after a few minutes, drop to small, if it feels loose or leaks sound, try large.

  2. Insert and seal
With clean hands, gently pull your ear up and back, insert the plug, and twist until it feels snug but not painful.

  3. Set your mode

    • Align the dial with the open thin circle for Engage

    • Align with the half filled icon for Experience

    • Align with the filled circle at the back for Quiet
You will feel a soft click when you are in place.

  4. Adjust in real time
Leave them in and change modes as your environment changes instead of taking them out and in all day.

  5. Clean and store
Wipe the plugs with a damp cloth and mild soap when needed, let them dry fully, and park them in the carry case so they do not pick up pocket debris.

Good to know, safety and care

  • If you get new or worsening ear pain, discharge, or hearing changes, take a break and have your ears looked at rather than pushing through.

  • Not designed as a medical device for tinnitus or hearing loss, but many people do find adjustable plugs helpful as part of a wider sensory toolkit.

If you want a reusable pair that can follow you from deep focus to dinner to a festival without switching products, Loop Switch 2 is basically that idea in earplug form, one small dial that lets you choose how loud your day gets.
